Teaser Trailer: Robocop (2012)

When a classic movie like Paul Verhoeven’s ROBOCOP gets remade, it better be good. Robocop starring Peter Weller is considered a classic, but lets hope this feature turns out fantastic.

The teasers are starting and it is encouraging. Hope you like.  But it does hint at the scary time of today, what if cities wanted Drones and robotic security? This is sadly something almost of current affairs.  Maybe not the Human/robot hybrid, but all these armed drones that seem like they are out of Terminator and Robocop.

If you visit the promotional site, www.omnicorp.com, you get more promotional, but it images a Dallas in anarchy as an example of why drones and robotic militarized units are needed.

Scary.  Lets hope there is a day never acceptable when computers and drones perform security, why?  They don’t have morals, A computer doesn’t have a conscience to object to an immoral order.  Some drone pilots have also shows similar, when you look at collateral damage of extra people dying from “sanctioned” missions to get a bad guy, often they get many more supposed bad people, all without due process and courts.
The remake stars: Samuel L Jackson, Gary Oldman, Abbie Cornish, Hugh Laurie and Joel Kinnaman as Robocop/Alex Murphy. Kinnaman hasn’t had too much success before, having starred in genre movies The Darkest Hour, Safe House and the tv series The Killing, though he did have a small role in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.  Lets see what he is like, but it does seem like they are aiming for a youth audience for the new Robocop and its hard to see too much via this teaser if we have an amazing movie in store or just a good teaser campaign.

The Director is also a relative newcomer to US screens with not having produced a major Hollywood picture before and having done foreign movies and lets hope he can rise to the occasion.
